Custom decals, like a handmade pair of boots. Something vinyl, cool decal creations, how it’s made!

January 2, 2020 by John

Well, not exactly like “boots.” But much in part handmade—with precision, experience, and care!

Here’s five custom decal highlights of 2019, and how they’re made…

At Full Intensity Grafx we’ve been creating custom vinyl decals for just over 20 years now. When a customer comes up to me and asks, “Can you print a decal for me, like this?” and then shows me a photo, I think of handmade boots, and exactly what it’ll take to get the client’s custom decals made—from start to finish. And even though it’s probably not as complicated as making a “handmade pair of boots,” there is a process involved. And depending on the design, much care is involved in order to create a product that WOWS the client.

Machine cut, tediously “weeded” by hand, and assembled to create a unique one-of-a-kind decal product!

First up is this Cobra decal. It’s made with a base layer of gloss black vinyl, then gold and red, and to top it off, REFLECTIVE, yes, REFLECTIVE vinyl eyes! Check out the details of this amazing, one-of-a-kind result. Way better than any printed sticker could ever be. As we always say, maybe not the cheapest vinyl decals out there, but then who wants the cheapest? Next is the “BIG DAWG” custom lettering, which uses a very dark steel blue base layer, and silver text, and then a really cool school mascot bulldog decal that’ll look great applied to a tinted window because of its white base layer. The white base layer is die-cut first, then atop it goes black, silver, and medium blue high-gloss vinyl. This client also added the school’s name at the top and bottom of the decal. Really cool, and this will last for up to 6 years on a vehicle window, or longer!
Next up, and we make quite a few of these, are some cool USA and assorted flag decals. The USA flag takes more care and time, as we need to be extremely careful in lining up the stars and stripes, and in fitting the red and sapphire blue vinyl colors to the white base layer. After this is done, the application tape used to place the topmost colors is removed, and the outer shape is precision cut to ensure there is no overlap or excess or the top layer colors. Also pictured is a Rebel / Confederate flag decal, which gets the same attention to detail and precision outer cuts. And there is also this cool, Texas flag decal in the shape of the state of Texas. For anyone who wants a product that goes above a simple printed sticker, these custom-made vinyl flag decals are for you. And, feel free to contact us if you need a flag decal you cannot find in our flag decal online catalog.
Customer provided art, made into a custom logo decal for a semi-truck! The client went to many places around town and no one wanted to take on the project. His artwork was a rough sketch and was going to need a whole lot of work. I’ve known this client for almost 20 years, took a look, and said “Let’s do it!” I knew exactly what needed to be done. And it took me a good 1-2 hours, recreating every line in the client’s artwork, making it nice and clean—and here is the final result, applied to the truck! The client was excited! Their big rig had been out of commission for quite some time, and now has a fresh engine rebuild, brand new vinyl graphics, DOT number decals and custom lettering for the company name—and is ready for the open road! One of my favorite projects of 2019. Custom trucker, trucking, semi-truck logo vinyl graphics—from client-provided artwork, to reality!
One of my favorites. Here’s a step by step creation of a cool custom Muscle Man Mustang Horse Decal. This design was drawn by my long-time friend, Joe. Joe has drawn hundreds of the designs that are in our online decal catalog, and we currently have most in the one-color decal version, and like this awesome multi-layer decal, the full-color version. This Mustang decal was made with a white base layer, so it stands out well when applied to tinted glass, and then gold vinyl, medium blue, white, and finally red for the hat. Need a custom decal drawn, feel free to contact us, or find thousands in our catalog: see the one color Full Intensity decals | multi-color (part 1) | multi-color (part 2)
We made these food truck decals in late 2019. The client provided a the art, and we made the vinyl decals a reality, and then applied them. What was quite memorable about this one, was that I forgot my ladder. I used some nearby cement blocks to reach the high stuff, and in the process of moving the blocks, stirred up a thousand ants. Needless to say I finished the job while getting stung and swatting the ants away and off my legs. But it came out so amazing! Since, we’ve added many more (printed food picture decals) to this same food-truck, and we did not forget our ladder!

Well, that’s it for today’s post. I hope you have enjoyed it. Stay tuned for more vinyl decal adventures!

thank ou thumbs up
