They didn’t just think…They did it! 10 Creative Vinyl Decal Applications.

January 24, 2020 by John

Because sometimes you get an idea, just to let it fade away. Ideas mean little, without ACTION to back them up. ACTION is EVERYTHING—and thoughts are about as useless as a fart in the wind.

cool decal chola girl with microphoneKeeping it ON TOPIC (Vinyl Graphics and Cool Decals), today we’ll spotlight some of our clients’ sent-in pictures. Some are insanely cool, al are very creative. Check out the following uses of of our vinyl decals and graphics. If anything, use the following ideas to spark ideas for a project you might have on the back burner. And FYI, the sky’s the limit, this is just a tiny sample of what is possible.

When it comes to vinyl graphics, it’s cool that they are not permanent. Some people choose to clearcoat over top of the vinyl graphics, but I tell most clients, that it’s cool not to. You can change things up once in a while. And while most decals last for upwards of 5 years or more when applied, feel free and have fun experimenting with different colors, graphics styles, whatever, to fit your ever-changing lifestyle and how you choose to express yourself in any given week, month, year or decade of your life!

cool decal DJ dude with microphoneNow, here’s TEN awesome clients’ projects that were sent us here at Full Intensity Grafx, and how they chose to BE CREATIVE. Because expressing yourself in your own unique way, is what it’s all about.

Toyota 4-Runner with matte black retro striping decals
We had a blast working with this client. He had a vision, and did it ever make this Toyota 4-Runner awesome. These retro, custom matte-black vinyl graphics ROCK. It took some patience to apply, and we went back and forth with emails creating a mock-up graphics, but I’d say solidly, this RETRO look sets a whole new level of the bar!
Dodge Dakota with silver tribal graphics
Dakota’s Dodge Dakota rocks! We love getting pictures, and when our clients put themselves in the picture, even better! Dakota chose a set of silver tribal graphics, applied them himself, and sent us these cool pics!
vintagee parking meter decals
This client used vinyl decal in his restoration of vintage and custom parking meters. These decals were made on our custom lettering decals page, using the option to curve the text upwards. Please note, if you choose to order custom lettering decals using our curve option, we might decide to send you a sample proof of your decal, before we create anything. This is to make sure the degree of curvature to the decal, is how you want it. Generally, and unless you provide specifications, the degree of curvature is estimated, i.e. eyeballed.
ghost flames decals on Ford truck
“Ghost flames” or a “GHOST” effect is the same with vinyl decals, as it is with paint. Although, with decals there are far less colors in comparison to the millions of shades of paint. This client wanted something subtle for his Ford pickup truck, and he decided to give ghost flames using decals a try. So, he chose a color that is close to the color of his paint, therefore lessening the degree of contrast from decals to substrate, i.e. the paint on his truck. This awesome effect stands out just enough, and make’s it onto today’s highlights for just that reason!
Motorcycle trailer with red flames decals
Ready for the road! Motorcycle, packed cooler and trailer, and, hot bright red vinyl flames decals, as well as a really cool and unique pinstriping eagle decal. Now here’s something different. And this client made it happen, and we’ll assume that, by now, the wind in on his and his partner’s face as they blaze into the sunset on their customized chopper!
glitter vinyl on bow and arrows
As I’ve always said, not just for cars and trucks! The decals can be used in a variety of ways. And this client, too, made it happen. She ordered some cool glitter vinyl sheets, i.e. raw vinyl off the roll, from our site and used it to decorate her arrows. No that’s different. Unique!
concession trailer decals and lettering logos
Nikki’s Dawgs has been with us for a while. These logo decals on their concession stand and concession trailer help to get the word out about some of the most amazing hot dogs and soups in Old Bridge, New Jersey! Check out Craig and his team on their Facebook page using the link above for no other than, the one and only, best dawgs in the northeast—Nikki’s Dawgs! And now, a little about the decals they used. The logo text is bright orange vinyl, atop sapphire blue, a.k.a. royal blue vinyl. The lettering text for Nikki’s Dawgs is an example of the cool lettering decals that can be ordered from our site. This above example uses our 2-color option, shadow style #6. See the available decal shadow styles here. And finally, props to all small business owners, and those clients who support small businesses!
Dodge Ram Truck Fear Me back window decal
A great example of just why the color white is so popular for vinyl decals. Look at how well it stands out on window tint. This flaming ram with FEAR THIS tattoo really pops!
Hot Rod Flames Graphics
A before and after… HOT ROD! And while some may say they prefer the “before,” consider this. He had it Plain Jain for years, and decided to switch it up. So, he went and customized it with vinyl graphics. Why vinyl? Because he can try out a new look, keep it for years, and remove it whenever he feels like it to try something else.
Toyota Celica wiith black vinyl graphics
An oldie but goodie. This client got an idea, and went with it. Just another of many examples demonstrating, you can do it your way. Over the top, or go with simplicity, it’s your choice.

Well, I hope you like today’s post showing off a few of our client’s rides. These are some ideas put into action, and show that you can do it your way, whether that be clean and simple, hot and wild, or no vinyl graphics at all. But, don’t be afraid to try new things. And if you decide on some vinyl graphics for your ride, or your custom project, whatever, then hit us up. As always, we’re ready to work for you at Full Intensity Grafx

Will decals mess up my paint? How long do vinyl graphics last? How to remove a decal?

January 21, 2020 by John

Vinyl graphics and your paint job. Removing vehicle decals from auto-body paint, and your car or truck’s window glass.

Toyota truck vinyl graphicsHere at Full Intensity Grafx we’ve been creating and applying vinyl decals for over 20 years. The following are accounts from OUR experience, which may or may not be typical.

First, will vinyl graphics applied to the body of your car or truck affect your vehicle’s paint job? Possibly, but why? The normal painted surface of a vehicle does in fact fade over time. Because time is a juggernaut; it does its thing. Underneath the decal, the paint will fade at a lesser rate, if at all, and after several years—more time being more of a factor (as well as sunlight, temps, and other variables your paint job has been exposed to)—might allow a difference in color intensity between where the decal had been applied, and where it had not.

barbed-wire silver vinyl graphics on a Chevy NovaPlease also note, most vinyl decal material has an outdoor durability rating based on the angle of which the decal is applied. For example, a 6-year vinyl material (we use mostly Oracal 6-year proven, commercial-grade vinyl) is rated at up to 6 years outdoor durable, or longer, when applied at a 90-degree angle, plus or minus 10 degrees. Sunlight and heat will affect hood decals more than vinyl graphics that are applied to the sides of a vehicle, car, truck, boat, etc.

Examples based on my experience:

  • decals applied to the sides of a car for a month or so… There’s a 99% chance no signs of a decal ever being applied, will remain on your paint job.
  • vinyl graphics applied to paint for a couple years… There may be the slightest chance you will see some fading, e.g. where the decal had been, and the paint that had no decals applied to it. Sunlight fades every paint job—time is the juggernaut and does its thing!
  • graphics, decals, or stickers have been left on a vehicle for ten years… They will be more difficult—and could be quite difficult—to remove, and depending on how much sunlight (as well at other variables: temp, extreme exposure, etc.) there may likely be signs that some decals have been applied to the paint. Rubbing compound and polish can help with this, or consider replacing your vinyl graphics with a fresh set that are the same size. Perhaps try a different color to add some spice! (I have many clients do this!)
  • vinyl graphics have been left on a vehicle sitting in a junkyard for 30 years… Get a new paint job if you intend to restore it!

sport car with silveer flame graphics decalsWhat can I expect after removing my graphics? What problems might I run into?

Will it remove my paint?

Well, do you have a cheap aftermarket paint job? Perhaps the auto-body shop didn’t prepare or sand the surface as well as they could have. Yeah, there are many places that offer these super fast, super cheap paint jobs—and this is how they are able to do such a thing. They cut time to save the money, in order to pass the savings on to you.

large bulldog graphics on carIf the above is true, then yes, vinyl decals—which can have a very strong adhesive—could possibly remove the paint when peeled off. And, I have seen just this happen with my own paint job. Yeah, I once got one of those quick “cheap” paint jobs. It was from Earl Shieb. After letting the paint cure, I then put some flame graphics on the sides of my truck. The graphics were no bigger than about the truck’s doors, and when I eventually attempted to remove the decals, I did it too quickly and didn’t peel them off at a sharp enough angle (before I had all lthis experience… hee, hee). And you guessed it. The paint came off with the stickers! Oh, no! And underneath, there was that un-prepped surface.

So, to prevent this from happening to you… you may want to heat the graphic a little. Peel off extremely, even anally, slowly, and at a very sharp angle, away and flat against the paint of the vehicle. If you have a cheap paint job, and you remove your graphics slowly enough, and carefully enough, then you should—cross your fingers—be okay.

customized vinyl graphics on cars and trucksAs for most factory paint jobs, or paint jobs where the surface has been prepped correctly, you shouldn’t have to worry about vinyl decals removing the paint of your vehicle, but I would still use caution when removing your vinyl graphics.

NOTE: Have you seen those factory paint jobs where the paint seems to be cracking off, as if, even the automobile manufacturer didn’t prep the surface correctly? I have seen this happen on older Dodge Neons, some Ford vans and Ford Mustangs (white). What vehicles have you seen this on?

stars and stripe flag graphicsRemoving vinyl decals from glass.
Actually, removing vinyl decals from a car window is pretty easy. I like to use a flat razor and some water. Lightly heating the decal may help, too. NOTE: If using a heat gun, never apply too much heat. Heat guns get VERY HOT and can damage just about anything they fire at, be it glass or paint—anything!

Slowly use your flat razor-blade at a sharp angle to the glass, to get under decal. Spray some water on your window at the same time. The decal should come right off, as well as the glue!

TIP: Here’s a page on our main website with application videos for removing and applying vinyl decals.

NOTE: I have noticed—again, this depends on time, amount of sunlight the decal has received—that the glass can keep a slight variation in appearance to where a decal had been applied to it. This seems to vary depending on many factors, and I’m not sure at the moment if it is permanent. Something to consider…

Removing decals from the painted surface of a vehicle, car, truck, etc…
Removing decals from paint takes more time. It takes more time even, than applying the graphics, which can be rather simple depending on the application. To remove vinyl graphics, you’ll want to attempt to peel them off slowly, as not to remove any paint (very rare—read the above, if you haven’t) and if it leaves some glue you can remove the remaining adhesive with adhesive and glue remover. There is a really good 3M brand of this sold at most auto parts stores, and of course, Walmart. I have tried the GOO GONE, which can be found at the Dollar Tree, and it did not work well at all.

NOTE: You may want to test a small inconspicuous area on your paint job, using whatever glue and adhesive remover you purchase.

cool decals on red sports carTo remove your graphics, you also might try heating your vinyl graphics a little bit with a heat gun. Blow dryers don’t work well, they just don’t make enough heat. Putting your vehicle, car, truck, boat, in the sun on a warm day helps too.

heat gun flame guyWARNING: Be careful with heat guns! They’re HOTTER THAN FIRE and can damage your paint job if too much heat is applied.

Decals left on for many years will be much harder to remove. Time and patience is key. One final tip for removing vinyl graphics, and I see many people do this… DON”T use metal razor blades on your paint. It will scratch it. You can order plastic razor blades, which will not scratch your paint job. These can probably be found easiest online.

How hard is it to remove vinyl graphics from my the paint of my car, truck, boat…

  • My decals have been applied for a few months… It should be quite easy, and might not even leave any glue. Still, using patience is recommended.
  • My vinyl graphics have been on the sides of my truck for ten years… It could be a task, but can be done. Use all the advice above.
  • Graphics have been applied to the hood of a car that has been sitting in a junk yard for thirty years… Ah, forget it!

That’s it for today’s post. I hope the above information was helpful. If you have a question, or would like to suggest other pertinent information that could be added to today’s blog post, please feel free to contact Full Intensity Grafx.

Five Cool Decals We Created

January 16, 2020 by John

Just a "simple post" fence postThe simplest of posts, with the coolest of FIVE. Decals, that is!

Check out these FIVE cool decals we made, and following is an image with 1000s of really cool vinyl graphic creations we made here at Full Intensity Grafx, where we might NOT be the cheapest vinyl graphics shops, but who actually wants the cheapest? Like a handmade pair of boots, we take the upmost care and pride in creating the simplest of vinyl decals, to the most complex and difficult.

Without further ado, here’s FIVE cool vinyl decal creations, layer after layer of the highest quality precision-cut vinyl, and a little bit about them…

F**k off custom lettering neon vinyl decal
The message is the client’s, and does this color choice ever stand out. This custom lettering decal was ordered via our website. The client chose the font—the “beep off” text—and the brightest of possible colors: Neon fluorescent vinyl. The neon material used in these custom lettering decals is way brighter than even this photo can depict, but has a couple of drawbacks, compared to our regular vinyl colors that is. This special vinyl, which is recommended for short-term promos, can last 1-2 years when applied outdoors, and is much thicker. But, all said, the thickness is one of the characteristics that makes these decals look so freaking cool, and 1-2 years is still a long time. And most people change their decals often—one of the reasons for using vinyl instead of more permanent paint—as might just be the case with these F**K OFF custom lettering stickers!
bulldog ripping through steel decal
Just a bulldog… An angered one, ripping through the steel of the body of your ride! This cool bulldog decal made the list for its design, and its use of vinyl colors which include, the gold and silver metallic, plus count ’em, five more! Yes, it takes seven different decals layered to achieve this unique look, which rips its way out of the figurative steel and into today’s top-five list of cool decals! Order this one on our site, any size, and yep, we can even switch the vinyl colors upon request. Just let us know for example, that you’d like to use, say, silver vinyl for the bulldog itself, or… Of course, feel free to be creative, because that’s what it’s all about!
viva mexico decal
This VIVA MEXICO, like the bulldog decal above, is made by layering several layers of high-quality Oracal vinyl. The difference, though, is that this design was drawn for Full Intensity Grafx by a long-time friend, Jose Illaramendi. Want to see thousands of other designs drawn by this amazingly talented artist? Look no further than our main decals catalog. See these original art decals here, and as well, these full-color decals here. All of them were drawn by Joe (Jose) at the request of Full Intensity Grafx. Also, check out these Mexico decals.
custom number decal matte black and red
I loved this one the second I layered the vinyl and peeled away the application tape. It’s no secret that matte vinyl is all the rage. Trending it is, and this is why! These custom number decals look amazing because of the transition from matte to gloss. This aspect adds a extraordinary layer of stunning depth to a very simple, yet very clean design. To create something like this you can contact us, or simply order a custom lettering decal (how-to link) at Full Intensity Grafx and choose shadow-style #6. This special option allows for the choice of a second vinyl color that can outline the text on your decal.
British flag decal
We create a lot of USA flag decals weekly, but today we made something different. These UK British flag decals are layered with the same colors as good ol’ USA, but a change for the day. Today we highlight these British flag decals, which came out amazing! They are layered using three die-cut vinyl decals, then hand trimmed to perfection. We have many flag decals in the catalog on our site, and you can order them in just about any size.

That’s it for today’s post. Five cool decals! Thanks for reading.

Create a Family Sticker

January 13, 2020 by John

Create a family sticker for your car, or truck, or boat… almost, whatever!

fishing family stickerYes, it’s a cool manner of expression. No, it’s not for everyone. And not cool for everyone. And my wife doesn’t like the taste of whiskey. Though, I love it. But I don’t like eggs, but I do like fast cars, and she likes…

Meaning… this BIG world has a little something for everyone. The figurative “boats” (does this float your boat?) get floated by this, that or the other thing. Yep, everyone’s different! And like this or that and those things over there, those car decals or those tattooed arms, syrupy pancakes or mega HOT sauce, and whatever else, the world is going to continue to spin round and round just like the thousands and thousands of ways to express yourself will continue to fad (like fade, but fad) in and out. And creating a family sticker, instead of getting a tattoo or custom-made T-shirt, might be a manner of expression you find fun to advantage of—if it floats your figurative boat, of course. So, EXPRESS yourself, if ya wanna! And SHOUT!

family sticker
This above picture shows a custom family sticker just after the handmade part of the process. This can be a tedious process, but the end result is a product that is unique, personalized, and way cooler looking than a basic old printed sticker! Family stickers make great gifts.

If I haven’t lost you yet, then yes, this might be right up your alley. What a cool and unique thing it is: Creating a family sticker!

army family stickerToday’s blog post will highlight a few of the cool, and sometimes really crazy, “family stickers” we have created. And while most of our pics show them applied to car windows, in fact, the family “car” sticker can be applied to just about any smooth surface.

If I still have your attention, you made it through the screening process. You might want to shout out to the whole wide world—I love my family—or, and we have created many family stickers like this, too: My family is crazy and they drive me nuts! And last but not least, “position available” (you’ll see what I mean below).

custom family sticker
The above image shows a close-up of a die-cut family sticker with optional names added. Way cooler than a decal with a background, this sticker is just the white part as shown here. It is the only part that will remain on your car window (again, not just for car windows) after you remove the family sticker’s application tape.

Without further ado… here’s some more pics showing how our family stickers are made, a few cool, and perhaps wild examples, and finally, where you can go to create your family sticker online.

family stickers on car windows and RVs
From car windows to bumpers to RVs and more, the above picture shows some of the cool family stickers our clients having ordered using our website, Full Intensity Grafx.
very large family sticker across back window
This client created a very large family sticker (above) that goes across her entire back window. There’s cats, dogs, kids swinging on vines, grandparents and names, even a sun! And the second image (below) shows just how crazy a family sticker might possibly get. The family sticker here, starts with a dad and a keg of beer, then a mom chilling out with her beer, 4-wheeler and go-cart kids, cute girls, and a basset hound and a cat. Wow!
weird family sticker
Don’t ask! But I will tell… at least a little. Remember how I said “whatever floats your boat” in the opening paragraph of this blog post, well… This is hands down one of the craziest, weirdest family stickers we have created upon customer request.
fishing team family sticker
A fishing team family sticker. So easy to create! Simply go to our site, Full Intensity Grafx Family Stickers, then select the dads, choose. Select the moms, choose (names optional). Then choose the header option and enter FISHING TEAM, or whatever custom header you’d like. Add your custom family sticker to the shopping car and check out. Piece of cake!
grandpa grandma family sticker
Here’s another. This fishing team is a grandma and grandpa fishing team. Same deal! Head over to Full Intensity Grafx Family Stickers and choose instead from the grandparents category. Add your optional header, choose a vinyl color if you’d like, add to cart and check out.
hunting family sticker
A hunting team family sticker. Perfect for hunters! Create yours any way you’d like to.
hunting fishing family sticker
And this one is both. For hunting and fishing, a family sticker for the outdoors person. Makes a unique gift that lasts for years when applied.
single mom family sticker
A family sticker for the single mom. This one is custom made using a cool mom with a martini, and her two small dogs. The header text chosen states it simply and succinctly… JUST US!
Halloween family sticker
Muahaha! This spooky family sticker is perfect for the Halloween enthusiast, that person who loves to celebrate Halloween all year round. We have many alternates like this in our catalog. Select the family members you want, names or not, your optional header, add to cart and checkout. Check it out, you’ll find these scary selections by pulling the throw switch, which turns on Zombie family sticker mode! We ship daily.
Army family sticker
This army military sticker is one of our client favorites. Like all of the above, you’ll only find this style of family sticker at Full Intensity Grafx. We drew everyone of these unique designs and have been offering them for over two decades now.

what decals can we create for youSo, that’s all for today’s blog post. Again, just another of a million ways to express yourself in our BIG world. And a mighty cool one, I might add. And I think you think so too, if you’ve made it this far in today’s post.

So, have a great one, everybody. Thanks for reading. And, BE CREATIVE! Express yourself using whatever means you’d like! And if that happens to be by creating a cool family sticker, then Lore and I would love to be your go-to one-stop vinyl shop!

Not Tattoos, 8 Creative uses for Vinyl DECALS, besides for Cars

January 10, 2020 by John

NOT TATTOOS! They’re cool vinyl decals!

We’ve been doing this a while. Selling vinyl graphics, that is. Over two decades, actually. And our outside setup makes quite a stir, decal mania, really, and kids walking by almost always say, “Look at all the tattoos!”

eagle decal on a red canister
A multi-color eagle decal on a custom project!

Well, they’re surely not tattoos, and I don’t generally see a tattoo booth set up outside at flea markets, events and shows. But the adults generally know what they are. And I can often times hear one person asking another, “What are they?” while a companion of that person most times answers, “They’re decals, for cars.” To which—if I’m in the up-and-at-’em salesperson mood—I sometimes chime in with, “Actually, you can use them on just about any smooth surface.”

But, yep, first impression—we sell decals for cars. And trucks and vans, and boats, and… Well, there’s tons of other uses.

And this brings us to the topic of today’s blog post, which, had me going through some photos. Some were from recent eras, and some were from, well, quite a while ago. And now I shall highlight things we have created in the past—Eight Creative uses for Vinyl Decals, besides Cars, Trucks, and Boats—while you are free to come up with any project you have in mind, letting us know what you might need a vinyl decal for. Because Lore and I will be more than happy to help and advise!

So, without further typing, here we go…

beer bottle logo decals
This one brings a memory, of a BUZZ! Good beer, and some cool decals we used to create (and still can if YOU need some) for a micro-brewery. They took pride in brewing some pretty dang good ale, and we loved creating these, as well as many other styles of logo decals, for the beer bottles. Have something in mind, give us a shout out.
Beware of dog sign and doberman
We used this Beware of Dog Sign on the gate of our house when we had two really cool doberman pincers named Ruby and Beaker. This sign lasted for at least five years and probably would have pulled ten or more. Decals can be used for your signs and custom projects, or you can buy a sign like this from us. We still have it and others like it online and it’s quite popular. Check out our Full Intensity Grafx Plus eBay store and in the topmost search box type “SIGN.” Or, create your own multi-line custom lettering decals and apply to shellacked wood, metal, plastic, etc. The decals will work on just about any smooth surface and last for years and years.
Thanks to Danny and family for this picture. Danny has been with us for years. This particular decal was used for a bodybuilder in the family, and the competition for Mr. Iowa Natural, which I believe, if I can recall, that he did win! The skull decal on the right is also a send-in from Danny, showing off his decals. Danny is always thinking up cool custom projects, and he knows we absolutely love it when we receive pictures from our clients, especially with the client in the picture!
kayak decals canoe stickers
We made a whole assortment of various decals for these kayaks. The client wanted each kayak to have its own theme and well… I think they turned out amazing!
Chess board decals
One of our earliest clients, when the world wide wide was still new and there were a few people still walking around without a cellphone in their pockets. This client created custom chessboards, and I believe he is no longer in business. But I’ll never forget some of the cool custom creations (see more in our customer’s rides page) he made using our vinyl decals!
Coat of arms custom shield decals
I’ll never forget this one! Back when we had our shop, this was one of the coolest projects we took on. The client provided and image of what he wanted to create, on a plate. We created the decal, as shown above—although it was not quite as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4—and the rest is history! A family coat of arms shield was restored. To create this I first had to scan in the design, separate the colors, then die-cut each decal piece. The decals were layered for the multi-color effect, and finally the created sticker was applied to the shield. One for the history books!
cornhole board decals
We have made many a decal for cornhole (corn-hole) boards. The client can provide the art, or choose something from our large decal catalog, and we can work our magic. Same as the shield decals pictured above, the die-cut vinyl here is layered to create a full-color effect that looks way better than any printed sticker ever could. And it lasts longer too!
guitar decal
Custom guitar decals using vinyl lettering. Musicians know how important it is to pay attention to detail. Every note, every tone, every very fine detail! These name logo decals are made using one of our fonts, cut in gold, silver, or choose any color, and applied to the guitar. It looks as authentic as can be! Great for restorations, and it brings to mind a piano restoration we help with… but, ah yes, maybe for another post, another day.

That’s it for now. I hope you liked today’s post. And, if you have used vinyl decals—ours or those of a competitor—by all means, please send us a picture and we’ll share it with the world. Have a great one, everybody! ~Full Intensity Grafx
